ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2025) — WUCF, Central Florida's PBS station, has been honored in PR Daily's 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards, earning top recognition in the Advocacy and Awareness category for its inspiring "We Change Lives" campaign.
The Nonprofit Communications Awards celebrate the most effective work in nonprofit storytelling nationwide. WUCF's campaign stood out for showing how storytelling, education and connection remain at the heart of its mission to serve Central Florida.
Launched earlier this year alongside WUCF's refreshed brand identity, "We Change Lives" underscores the station's role as a trusted, unifying force, using storytelling, education and engagement to connect people of all ages and spark meaningful change.
"Our 'We Change Lives' campaign was designed to show that public media isn't just about broadcasting. It's about belonging," said Jennifer Cook, Executive Director of WUCF.
"Every story we share, every classroom we support and every event we host reflects the heart of this community. This award is a tribute to the power of storytelling and to the generosity that keeps public media strong in Central Florida."
Storytelling with Impact
The award-winning campaign brought together students, educators and families whose lives have been positively influenced by WUCF's educational resources and trusted local programming.
Through short videos, community events and social storytelling, the initiative amplified different voices and inspired meaningful dialogue across WUCF's nine-county service area.
Its impact was both emotional and measurable. On digital platforms, the campaign drew more than 500,000 video views and boosted social engagement by 65 percent. It also fueled a 12-percent increase in year-end donations and a 22-percent rise in new memberships, demonstrating how deeply WUCF's mission to change lives resonates across the region.
Serving Central Florida with Purpose
Licensed by the University of Central Florida, WUCF continues to serve as a vital connector, offering free access to award-winning programming, PBS KIDS learning tools, local storytelling and beloved music on WUCF Jazz. From classrooms to concert halls, the station empowers curiosity and connects audiences through trusted public media.
"This recognition affirms what our team and supporters have always known: public media has the power to inform, inspire and unite," Cook said. "We're deeply grateful to our community for believing in us and helping us change lives every day."
