ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2025) — Just in time for the peak of hurricane season, WUCF is premiering a new animated series from PBS KIDS that brings science, storms and safety to Central Florida’s youngest learners.
Weather Hunters, created by and starring legendary weather anchor Al Roker, premieres at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, on WUCF.
The show follows young meteorologist-in-the-making Lilly Hunter and her family of science-savvy weather reporters as they solve mysteries, explore the environment and help their community stay safe, rain or shine.
"Kids love asking ‘why,’ and Weather Hunters meets them in that moment of curiosity,” said Jennifer Cook, Executive Director of WUCF. “It makes science fun, and it gives families the tools to talk about weather safety in a way that’s not scary, just smart. That’s what we’re all about.”
Built for Florida Families
With its hurricane-season timing and focus on STEM education, Weather Hunters is a perfect fit for WUCF’s broader commitment to education and public safety.

Whether they’re measuring wind speed, explaining thunderstorms or investigating fall leaves, the Hunters help kids understand how weather works and why it matters.
