WUCF TV, Central Florida’s PBS station, is honored to receive an Emmy from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the 43rd Annual Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards on Saturday, December 14 for its local documentary Space Chase, USA.

Space Chase, USA, produced locally by WUCF, explores the extraordinary, transformative events Cocoa Beach residents found themselves engaged in as the exploration of the future and beyond arrived on their sleepy shores. Through resident accounts, archival footage and home movies, the documentary will provide a broader personal connection to an important time in Cocoa Beach’s history. Space Chase, USA premiered in July as part of WUCF’s Summer of Space.

“WUCF is honored that the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized our work in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with Space Chase, USA,” said Dr. Phil Hoffman, WUCF executive director. “Being Central Florida’s Storytellers, Space Chase, USA was our way of highlighting the trials, tribulations and triumphs of this significant event that happened right in our own backyard.”

The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to excellence in television and offers the annual Regional Emmy Awards to television markets in the entire State of Florida; Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles and New Orleans, La.; Mobile, Ala.; Thomasville, Ga.; and Puerto Rico.
