The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored WUCF TV, Central Florida’s PBS station, with two Suncoast Regional Emmy® nominations for its work on the local documentary Space Chase, USA. The film was honored in the historical documentary category as well as the writer category for Adam White’s work in the non-news program category.

Space Chase, USA, produced locally by WUCF, explores the extraordinary, transformative events Cocoa Beach residents found themselves engaged in as the exploration of the future and beyond arrived on their sleepy shores. Through resident accounts, archival footage and home movies, the documentary will provide a broader personal connection to an important time in Cocoa Beach’s history. Space Chase, USA premiered in July as part of WUCF’s Summer of Space.

“This year, the country celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Locally, we wanted to share personal triumphs about this century-defining achievement, that happened right here in our backyard,” said Dr. Phil Hoffman, WUCF executive director. “We are honored to be recognized for Space Chase, USA as it continues our mission of being Central Florida’s Storytellers.”
