On Thursday, June 8, Florida Road Trip’s Allison Godlove will head northwest to Florida’s capital city Tallahassee, home to two major universities (Florida State and Florida A&M), and a wealth of Floridian history and culture.
“Tallahassee is a city that’s filled with rich history and culture,” said Allison Godlove, host of Florida Road Trip. “This episode of Florida Road Trip gives viewers the chance to discover more about our capital city.”
Godlove will take viewers on an epic campus tour, making a stop at the Big Top. FSU’s Flying High Circus has been a long-standing tradition at Florida State University. It is one of only two colleges in the nation with a circus program and the only one with its own Big Top tent. Viewers will also explore the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, which is funded by the National Science Foundation and the state of Florida. Lastly, Florida Road Trip viewers will learn about the legendary Doak Campbell Stadium, home to the Florida State Seminoles.
A trip to Tallahassee isn’t complete without a visit to the State Capitol Building. Throughout Florida’s history, Tallahassee has been home to a total of four State Capitol buildings. Viewers will get a glimpse into the history of the capitol dating back to Florida’s pre-statehood days.
Florida Road Trip: Tallahassee, airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on WUCF TV, on wucf.org and on the PBS app. WUCF Passport members will also get early access, starting Thursday at 8 p.m. to next week’s episode, Florida Road Trip: St. Augustine.
