Get ready to hit the road with WUCF's Central Florida Roadtrip, premiering Thursday, September 12 at 8 p.m. Join us as we journey through history, exploring the stories of the people and events that have shaped our community."
Each week, a different city or area in Central Florida will be in the spotlight. The list includes:

  • Ocala – Sept. 12
  • Apopka – Sept. 19
  • Eatonville/Maitland – Sept. 26
  • Sumter County – Oct. 3
  • Landmarks – Oct. 10
  • Parks of the Past – Oct. 17

This season Central Florida Roadtrip heads to the hills of Ocala and gets a different take on “horse power”; to Orange County’s second largest city, Apopka, where foliage, feathers and furry friends are featured; and adds some nostalgia with a look at the theme parks of the past including how places like Six Gun Territory, Cypress Gardens, Circus World and many others, were the must-see tourist attractions of their time.

Hosted by WUCF Executive Director Dr. Phil Hoffman and produced by veteran television journalist Buddy Pittman, the program explores the communities and history across the nine-county Central Florida area.

“Central Florida Roadtrip allows WUCF to explore the stories of the people and events that have shaped our community today,” said Hoffman. “We love taking this journey through history and having the audience come along for the ride as we uncover the stories from our history and community.”

Central Florida Roadtrip airs Thursdays, beginning September 12 at 8 p.m. on WUCF.
