WUCF TV, Central Florida PBS, celebrates the return of summer travel with new specials from travel expert Rick Steves and locally-produced Central Florida Roadtrip as well as concerts from Andrea Bocelli and Celtic Woman during its June fundraising drive beginning Saturday, June 5.
In Rick Steves Europe Awaits, Rick Steves shares vivid and unforgettable visits to European favorites--off-beat, romantic, or just good for the soul-- that he'd love to visit when we can travel again. This new special premieres on Monday, June 7 at 8 p.m.
WUCF’s own Central Florida Roadtrip hits the road again to explore the counties that we call home. On Thursday, June 10, take a ride through history with Dr. Phil Hoffman for a special sneak preview of what’s to come in season seven.
“People all over Central Florida turn to WUCF to hear untold stories, experience fresh perspectives and feed their curiosity. We are Central Florida’s Storytellers,” said Dr. Phil Hoffman, WUCF executive director. “WUCF is grateful for our community helping us get through this past year, so thank you for your continued support in helping us bring our viewers the PBS programs they love and produce local favorites they care about most.”
Viewers will also get a chance to experience some of the best seats in the house with a new concert special and ticket offer from Andrea Bocelli. Audiences will enjoy the songs of the internationally beloved tenor’s 2020 album recorded on location in Malta. Selections performed include “Gratia Plena,” a duet with Cecilia Bartoli, and new interpretations of “Ave Maria” and Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah.” Andrea Bocelli: Believe premieres on Saturday, June 5 at 8 p.m. and repeats several times during the fundraising drive.
Other concert specials include The Best of Celtic Woman and Mannheim Steamroller 30/40 Live. Viewers who donate during these concert specials can receive concert tickets to see the acts when they come to town later this year or next year. Having the best seats in the house is WUCF’s way of saying thank you for your continued support.
WUCF is Central Florida’s community station, and this on-air fundraising drive directly impacts its fiscal year membership revenue goal with private funding making up more than 35 percent of the annual revenue. When viewers donate, they ensure future generations enjoy and learn from WUCF.
