ORLANDO, May 19, 2025 — This summer, WUCF PBS is bringing back its popular “On My Way to K” series of free, hands-on events designed to help Central Florida’s youngest learners get excited and ready for school.
Held throughout July at local libraries, each event is open to children ages 2–8 and their caregivers. Families will explore interactive stations that support every aspect of early childhood development—from creativity and movement to social-emotional growth and problem-solving. Activities are adaptable for children of all abilities, and every location includes a sensory-friendly space for little learners.
“This series reflects what WUCF does best: bringing families together with trusted resources that spark learning and connection,” said Jennifer Cook, Executive Director of WUCF. “Not every child has access to preschool, but every child deserves a strong start. ‘On My Way to K’ helps close that gap, one engaging, community-powered experience at a time.”
More than just a series of events, “On My Way to K” is an example of the powerful role public media plays in changing lives. At WUCF, we believe every child deserves the tools to succeed—and every family deserves to feel supported. This program is part of our mission to educate, inform and uplift, reaching families where they are with free, accessible resources that make a lasting impact.
“School readiness is more than just knowing letters and numbers, it’s about confidence, problem-solving and learning how to interact with others,” said Jeannine Meade, WUCF’s Education Engagement Coordinator. “That’s what ‘On My Way to K’ is all about. We want every family to feel supported and every child to feel excited about learning.”
