“We are so thrilled to be able to celebrate Kindness Month and Be My Neighbor Day once again with Central Florida,” said Lauren Taylor, Education Services Manager for WUCF. “Our team has worked hard to bring Fred Rogers’ values to our community this year. We are able to share the importance of kindness through events like Be My Neighbor Day and the two library pop-ups we have planned.”
WUCF is also partnering with library branches across Central Florida to bring kindness to communities throughout our area. Families can check with their local library branch for activities, book recommendations, and more. Events vary by branch and supplies may be limited. Kicking off February 1, 2024, fans can also download kindness activities to help celebrate kindness and what it means to be a caring neighbor. Activities include exploring your community with Daniel Tiger, friendship cards, kindness sweaters, Daniel Tiger masks, and friendship bracelets. "Each year WUCF is excited to celebrate Kindness Month and bring Be My Neighbor Day to our Central Florida community,” said Jennifer Cook, executive director of WUCF. "Fred Rogers built a legacy of being a good neighbor to everyone and WUCF has been committed to sharing that message for the last 10 years and is committed for many years to come.”
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is one of PBS’ most popular animated programs and airs weekdays at 9 a.m. on WUCF and is available to stream for free using the PBS KIDS app. The program builds on the pioneering PBS series, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and is produced by Fred Rogers Productions. The series tells engaging stories about the life of a preschooler using musical strategies grounded in Rogers’ landmark social-emotional curriculum. Through imagination, creativity, and music, Daniel and his friends learn the key social skills necessary for school and life.
WUCF Kindness Month and Be My Neighbor Day events are supported by PNC Grow Up Great® and Fred Rogers Productions, with local support from the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation, and Window World.
