Rescan on WUCF

WUCF Rescan Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why did WUCF change its frequency?

In 2017, Congress authorized the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to hold an auction to provide more channels for wireless broadband services. As a result of the auction, and to comply with the law, we installed a new broadcast antenna at our transmission tower to enable our channel to change.

We will move from channel RF23 to RF34. This move will happen behind the scenes; viewers watching with an antenna will still find WUCF, Create, NHK and PBS Kids 24/7 on the same channel numbers (24.1,24.2, 24.3, 24.4) as before.

Will WUCF improve its broadcast signal?
We’re not only meeting the basic federal requirements, but we are going a step further by substantially improving our signal strength. Our new broadcast antenna includes a substantial increase in power and a stronger broadcast signal.

You can check our signal strength by entering your zip code here: https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps

How do I rescan my television? Why can’t I find auto-scan using my remote?
Generally, you’ll press the menu button on your remote and look for “channel setup options.” Select “antenna” or “tuner” and start a new scan. Every TV is different, so if you run into trouble, please check your manual for specific instructions. Need more information on rescanning your television? Visit the site now.

I’ve rescanned multiple times, and I am still not receiving WUCF. What can I do?
If you are using an indoor or outdoor antenna to watch our four channels, you will need to rescan your TV channels. If you rescanned your TV, and you’re still not receiving WUCF, you might need to change the position of your antenna, and then rescan again. Visit http://www.antennaweb.org for tips on common issues or visit our Antenna FAQs page.

Why would I need to move my antenna?
If you were receiving WUCF, but now after rescanning, you cannot, then it might be necessary to adjust the direction of your antenna before rescanning again.

Where is the WUCF tower and transmitter located?
Our tower and transmitter are located in East Orange County off Lake Pickett Road.

I watch WUCF on cable (or satellite). Do I need to rescan?
If you watch WUCF via Spectrum cable, you do not need to take any action. However, if you watch WUCF via any other cable or satellite providers, please note that signal will be interrupted and not available until further notice.

I have an older TV and a converter box. Will I need to rescan my channels?
If you have a converter box connected to your TV, you will need to rescan to continue watching WUCF.
